We're excited to announce Crypton AI — a beta Chat and OpenAI-compatible API that runs inference in the EU, discards prompts after the reply, and bills from the Crypton credits you already use for numbers and eSIM.

It is optional. You do not need it to keep using Crypton. If you do turn it on, it lives on the same account, the same login, and the same wallet.

Two ways in

Chat is in the app at /app/chat. Pick a model, send a message, and optionally keep encrypted history — or switch Incognito on and we store nothing from that session.

API is OpenAI-compatible. Create a Crypton AI key in the app, point any OpenAI SDK at https://crypton.sh/api/ai/v1, and authenticate with that key. Chat and the API share one EUR rate card. There is no Chat surcharge.

Privacy, on purpose

  • Inference runs in the EU on renewable energy.
  • The inference provider's default is zero retention: the request is processed and discarded.
  • We do not log prompt or completion bodies.
  • Saved Chat threads are encrypted until you delete them.
  • Pay with card or crypto, same as the rest of Crypton.

The named inference sub-processor is in the Privacy Policy. The split between platform AI (self-hosted SMS filter and translation) and optional Crypton AI is in the AI Policy.

Free Chat, then credits

Signed-in accounts get a daily free bucket on qwen3.5-9b: 20 messages and 25,000 tokens, 10 requests per minute. Larger models are paid. When the free bucket is used, Chat continues from your Crypton credits — there is no separate AI wallet.

Rates are listed in EUR per million tokens on the Crypton AI page. We are not cheaper than typical US routers. Buy this for EU residency, default zero retention, crypto, and one Crypton account — not to undercut OpenRouter.

What we still do not do

  • No guest Chat. An account is required.
  • We do not use AI for support. Support stays human.
  • Platform SMS filtering and translation stay on self-hosted models. Crypton AI is user-initiated only.
